Week of Gatsby: Soundtrack

Continuing with my Week of Gatsby, today was especially exciting because the official soundtrack for The Great Gatsby was released. It's already a number one on iTunes, and for good reason. The music has a 20s feel with a modern twist. Beyonce, Lana Del Rey, and Florence + The Machine are just a few of the artists lucky enough to land on this masterpiece of a album. Oh, and Jay-Z, too.

I ran out and bought the deluxe edition as a celebration to the end of finals and the beginning of summer, and I'm so glad I splurged for the extra tracks! It's been on repeat since I got it. I've picked out a few of my faves and listed them below!

Young and Beautiful - Lana Del Rey

Ok, so I'm totally biased because I love everything Lana Del Rey releases, but this track in particular has a certain je ne sais quoi that is perfect for the film.

Over the Love - Florence + The Machine

I really don't know the lyrics yet but that hasn't stopped me from belting this one out at exceptionally high volumes. #sorrynotsorry

Back to Black - Beyonce + Andre 3000

So, a lot of people aren't super thrilled that they re-did an Amy Winehouse classic, but I think Andre 3000 and Beyonce do a wonderful job. It's slightly haunting, but I can't help but picture the Daisy-Tom struggle when listening to it.

Other faves include "Crazy in Love (Kid Koala Version)" by Emeli Sande/The Bryan Ferry Orchestra, "A Little Party Never Killed Nobody (All We Got)" by Fergie + Q Tip + GoonRock, and 100$ Bill by Jay-Z. The soundtrack is even better than I expected it to be and just overall fabulous.

Have you listened to the soundtrack? Which tracks are your favorites? Let me know in the comments section!
