As a blogger, my biggest challenge besides writer's block is finding inspiration and staying inspired. It's fairly simply to put together an outfit for a post, but it's a little more difficult when you're trying to create authentic content for your blog or social media channels. Inspiration here is key.
I tend to feel uninspired if I'm extremely busy at work or have a full social calendar, so it's always important for me to find quiet time to reflect and relax. I find inspiration in the smallest of things, whether it be a movie or new song that I love, a simple Pinterest pin, or even other blogs and sites.
I'm sharing some of my favorite places to be inspired online below to help you find new ways to get those creative juices flowing!
Pinterest has always been my go-to to get inspired. I even have an inspiration board that I keep up as a visual reference when I've got a case of the blahs. It's a great way to funnel all those things I'm inspired by into one place, almost like a mood board. I try to pin things at least 2-3 times a week, sometimes more depending on how inspired I'm feeling.
Similar to Pinterest, Tumblr serves as a source of visual inspiration for me. Since it only has one constant feed, it's not really a great place to reference back to posts, unless I save them by liking the photo. Still, it's a little messy, but I think that's the appeal of it. I try to keep my feed aesthetically-pleasing, making sure all my posts make sense for the style and look that I love, as well as follow blogs that keep me inspired and offer fresh content.
I'm constantly inspired by other lifestyle blogs and sites. I love staying up-to-date with their content to help me stay inspired not just when writing my own content, but also my day-to-day life. I'm not saying you should copy their content (that's not okay!), but following other blogs that interest you can provide insight as to what exactly keeps you inspired.
For me, I'm a big fan of Glitter Guide for their unique content and gorgeous photos. I also love Disney Style because they always share fun posts on how to incorporate a little Disney magic into everyday. Another favorite is LaurenConrad.com, because LC will forever be a total #girlboss, and I love the whimsical aesthetic her site and content offer. Oh Joy! is also a fun one to read!
Instagram is a huge source of inspiration for me, as I'm on it multiple times a day. I love scrolling through my feed to view a wide variety of content. Anytime I find a blog I'm inspired by, I almost always check out their Instagram first and follow them to stay connected. All of the aforementioned blogs I follow across social media, but definitely keep tabs on their Instagram feed the most!
While the new algorithm is a little clunky, I love discovering new hashtags and accounts to follow. I sometimes even screenshot posts I absolutely love to reference later - anything that I'm like, wow, I love that!, I always like to save, whether it be an outfit idea, decor inspiration or just something that I feel like is also my style.
Other ways I like to get inspired are through YouTube videos - not necessarily vlogs, but videos more like this that have that same vibe I'm going for. Spotify playlists are also great for discovering new artists and songs. And, of course, lifestyle brands are always a good source. My favorites to keep up with are ban.do, Show Me Your Mumu, Rifle Paper Co., Francesca's, and Urban Outfitters.
