Easy At-Home Honey Lavender Recipe

Monday, April 06, 2020

I've been missing my fancy coffee outings on the weekends, so I decided to up my caffeine game and try a new recipe. After scouring the web for the perfect one, I came up with my own at-home honey lavender latte combo that's the perfect sweet start to any morning!

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

1 cup of coffee of choice - I use Starbucks Vanilla K-Cups.

Milk/creamer of your choice - My favorite is Coffee Mate's Vanilla Almond Milk creamer.

1-2 Teaspoons of Lavender Syrup - I ordered mine right here from Amazon!

Honey

HOW TO MAKE A HONEY LAVENDER LATTE AT HOME:

Step 1 - Brew your coffee. Very important step here. 🤣

Step 2 - Add milk/creamer of choice. I like my coffee on the sweeter side, so I use vanilla creamer and don't measure it. I just kinda look to see when it's light enough for my liking.

Step 3 - Add 1-2 teaspoons of lavender. Again, I like things sweet, so I usually go for around 2 teaspoons, which IMO is plenty to get the hint of lavender. Any more than that and it tastes a little too syrup-y.

Step 4 - Add honey. As much as you'd like. I do a lil swirl to get fancy, but it's about 1 teaspoon worth.

Step 5 - Stir and enjoy!

And, it's as easy as that. If you decide to try it, tag me on Instagram @shelbyrevis and let me know what you think!

My Tips for Working from Home

Thursday, March 19, 2020
I'm sharing my best tips for working from home for anyone else who is also doing so at the moment. These tips might not be for everyone, but they've worked well for me and being super efficient (even in my pajamas!) :)

1. Stick to a schedule. Even though my workload varies day-to-day, I still do my best to stick to a schedule each day to stay organized and productive. I wake up around the same time every day and take my lunch break at the same hour when I can. This helps me to maintain some sense of routine, and overall, helps me to feel on-top of things with my work. Especially if you don't work remote full-time, it helps to stick to your current schedule. If you have a longer commute, replace it with some quiet time in the morning before you start your day.

2. Take breaks! This seems counterintuitive, especially if you have a long to-do list, but I find I am most productive when I allow myself to take quick breaks in-between my tasks. It helps me to stay focused and prevent feeling burned out after a busy day. Even if it's just a quick 10 minute walk with Kylo, making a coffee, doing laundry or grabbing a snack, I'm able to quickly jump back in my work and continue on with the rest of my day.

3. Stay hydrated. This seems like a no-brainer, but I have to really work on this one! I try to remember to drink lots of water during the day to stay hydrated and healthy. I feel sooo much better at the end of the day when I remember to do this!

4. Find your "flow." Working from home is different for everyone, but I've been able to find my groove that works for me and my daily tasks. Personally, I work best with a little bit of background noise, so I usually have music playing on my Google Home or record player, or even a show on my TV on a lower volume to keep me going. I also like to block out my time, so I'll set aside an hour or two to knock out a bunch of things, and then take a 10-15 minute break to re-focus. It really helps my productivity and motivation throughout the day!

5. It's totally ok to work in your pajamas. Despite what literally every work-from-home article says, it's totally fine to work in your pajamas. After all, I find myself being extra productive when I'm in some comfy clothes! Just remember to practice self-care, too, and if it makes you feel better to get fully dressed, do that. But again, whatever works for you! I've also seen a huge difference in my skin and hair, since I rarely wear makeup or apply heat to my hair anymore. Big plus!

6. Enjoy it! I'm a total introvert and homebody, so I'm pretty biased in the fact that I think working from home is the best. But, I realize it might not feel that way to everyone, so my best advice is just to enjoy the time at home and rest.

How I Organize my Minnie Mouse Ears

Saturday, February 15, 2020

One of my favorite things to collect is mouse ears from Walt Disney World! If you follow me on Instagram, you know that a good majority of my posts involve me wearing a pair of Minnie Mouse ears to complete my park outfits. They're such a fun accessory! And, in recent years, there have been so many cute styles to choose from at the parks, so naturally, my collection has grown quite a bit.

I love collecting unique pairs of ears, but it can get pretty messy when storing them. Enter: this headband display from Amazon.

SHOP IT HERE

This thing has been so handy in storing my most-loved pairs of ears! It fits about 8-10 pairs depending on their size - I have a few thicker mouse ears with large bows that take up a little bit more room - but I'm so impressed with it!

The display is meant for headbands, so if you're more into that, it works great for those too. Personally, I think it's a cute way to not only organize them but also display them in your room, on a shelf or in your closet.

Previously, I stored them in a bin, but I found they got squished or bent pretty easily, especially my more delicate pairs. I still have a few seasonal ears I store that way that wouldn't fit on the display, but worst case scenario I'll just order another! :)
