What's on our Wedding Registry

Monday, September 07, 2020

One of the many items on our wedding to-do list has been our registry. I actually procrastinated on it for a longgg time, mostly because I associated wedding registries with kitchen gadgets we'll never use. Turns out, there's actually a lot of useful items out there I never knew we needed!

After researching different websites to host our registry, we ended up going with Blueprint Registry. I found it was the easiest to use and allowed us to add products from any website we chose, from Amazon to more niche stores like Caraway and Our Place.

We did end up adding quite a few kitchen items to our list, but most of them were upgrades from what we currently own, like replacing our beloved Keurig with an actual coffee maker, or opting for a space-saving cookware set in lieu of my current set.

I also added pieces that we would most likely not purchase ourselves, like a fine china set that we can use for special occasions and to keep as a family heirloom.

I've linked some of our favorites from our registry below, just click to shop!

Easy At-Home Honey Lavender Recipe

Monday, April 06, 2020

I've been missing my fancy coffee outings on the weekends, so I decided to up my caffeine game and try a new recipe. After scouring the web for the perfect one, I came up with my own at-home honey lavender latte combo that's the perfect sweet start to any morning!

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

1 cup of coffee of choice - I use Starbucks Vanilla K-Cups.

Milk/creamer of your choice - My favorite is Coffee Mate's Vanilla Almond Milk creamer.

1-2 Teaspoons of Lavender Syrup - I ordered mine right here from Amazon!

Honey

HOW TO MAKE A HONEY LAVENDER LATTE AT HOME:

Step 1 - Brew your coffee. Very important step here. 🤣

Step 2 - Add milk/creamer of choice. I like my coffee on the sweeter side, so I use vanilla creamer and don't measure it. I just kinda look to see when it's light enough for my liking.

Step 3 - Add 1-2 teaspoons of lavender. Again, I like things sweet, so I usually go for around 2 teaspoons, which IMO is plenty to get the hint of lavender. Any more than that and it tastes a little too syrup-y.

Step 4 - Add honey. As much as you'd like. I do a lil swirl to get fancy, but it's about 1 teaspoon worth.

Step 5 - Stir and enjoy!

And, it's as easy as that. If you decide to try it, tag me on Instagram @shelbyrevis and let me know what you think!

How I Organize my Minnie Mouse Ears

Saturday, February 15, 2020

One of my favorite things to collect is mouse ears from Walt Disney World! If you follow me on Instagram, you know that a good majority of my posts involve me wearing a pair of Minnie Mouse ears to complete my park outfits. They're such a fun accessory! And, in recent years, there have been so many cute styles to choose from at the parks, so naturally, my collection has grown quite a bit.

I love collecting unique pairs of ears, but it can get pretty messy when storing them. Enter: this headband display from Amazon.

SHOP IT HERE

This thing has been so handy in storing my most-loved pairs of ears! It fits about 8-10 pairs depending on their size - I have a few thicker mouse ears with large bows that take up a little bit more room - but I'm so impressed with it!

The display is meant for headbands, so if you're more into that, it works great for those too. Personally, I think it's a cute way to not only organize them but also display them in your room, on a shelf or in your closet.

Previously, I stored them in a bin, but I found they got squished or bent pretty easily, especially my more delicate pairs. I still have a few seasonal ears I store that way that wouldn't fit on the display, but worst case scenario I'll just order another! :)

Hard Rock Hotel Daytona Beach - A Rockin' Beach Getaway

Thursday, July 18, 2019
I was recently invited to visit Hard Rock Hotel Daytona Beach. I was provided with accommodations, pool party event access and food/beverage credits during my stay. While this post is sponsored, thoughts and opinions on my experience are my own.

A Weekend at Hard Rock Hotel Daytona Beach

Are you ready to rock? Head to Hard Rock Hotel Daytona Beach for a rockin' time from the shore to the sea.

I recently visited this stunning beachside resort for a fun little summer getaway. It's the perfect place for a little R&R... and by that, I mean rock 'n' roll. ;)

This isn't your average beach resort. From the rock-themed decor to the poolside tunes, this place is definitely made for music fans. Like other Hard Rock hotels, Hard Rock Hotel Daytona Beach features so many cool details and memorabilia from rock's greatest artists and bands throughout the resort. My personal favorite was the Tom Petty guitar located across from Constant Grind.

Be sure to stop by the resort's restaurants, including Sessions, where we had a delicious dinner, the Wave Terrace (open Friday and Saturday nights), and Constant Grind for coffee and quick bites.

Of course, what's a beach resort without a pool? Hard Rock Hotel Daytona features not one, but two pools, one of which is shaped like a guitar, perfect for the little ones! If you're feeling fancy, elevate your experience with a poolside cabana - plus, they make for a great Instagram pic. :)

The fun doesn't stop there. You can even rent record players and guitars for your room during your stay. Jesse rented an electric guitar and thought it was the coolest thing. I got a kick out of watching him trying to learn his favorite songs. Thankfully, it comes with headphones so you don't have to worry about disturbing your neighbors. All you have to do is stop by the front desk, sign a form, and then they'll have the guitar of your choice delivered to your room. No need to set it up, they'll do all of that for you. And, when you check out, just leave it in the room and they'll take care of the rest.

Speaking of the room, the views were incredible. We had a room overlooking the ocean (in my opinion, the only way to go at the beach), and it was so beautiful! I grew up going to Daytona Beach every year when I was a kid, so it was a lot of fun for me to go back and share it with Jesse at such a cool resort. I soaked up every bit of salt air and ocean breeze from our balcony, and thoroughly enjoyed listening to the live music playing on the deck below at the Wave Terrace in the evening.

While we were there, we were able to enjoy the Liquid Pool Party, a special event happening on select Sundays at Hard Rock Hotel Daytona Beach. Sit back, relax and enjoy poolside drinks while a DJ spins upbeat tunes. Check back with the resort for more special events like this one!

10 Things to Pack for a Weekend at Hard Rock Hotel Daytona Beach

Not sure what to bring on your visit to Hard Rock Hotel Daytona Beach? Here are a few tips on what to pack in your weekend bag:

1. Sunscreen. This should be a no-brainer, but sunscreen is so important at the beach. Don't forget to apply, and then re-apply every few hours. My favorite is Sun Bum.

2. A sun hat. Whether it's a giant floppy straw hat or simply an old baseball cap, hats are important on keeping the sun off your face while you're by the pool or on the beach. I recommend something like this.

3. Sunglasses. Again, a no-brainer, but somehow I almost forgot to pack my favorite pair. I'd recommend a backup pair just in case, especially if you plan on wearing them in the ocean. These $10 sunnies would be perfect for that.

4. A cute beach towel. While the resort does offer smaller towels for your convenience, it's always a good idea to bring a beach towel or two to lay on in the sand. I chose this one, but this one is also super cute.

5. Cute and comfortable swimsuits. Shop the one I'm wearing above here. Comes in a ton of colors and is under $25!

6. Your favorite band tee(s). Hard Rock Hotel Daytona Beach is the perfect place to show off your favorite band tee. Plus, they make great beach coverups if you buy them oversized like this one!

7. Beach-to-dinner date bag. The best part about the beach is being able to go from the pool to dinner easily, and you'll want a bag that can go with that! This bag is my favorite for just that - it's waterproof and easy to clean afterwards. Plus, you can remove the insert to throw in a bigger beach tote during the day!

8. Coverup. Again, when you're going from the beach to the bar for drinks in the evening, you'll need a cute coverup for that. I recommend something like this with a pair of your favorite denim shorts. Easy and cute for poolside hangs!

9. Portable radio/speaker. While there are no shortage of tunes at the pool, once you hit the beach, you might want to listen to your own playlist. I recommend a cute little retro portable speaker like this one to throw in your beach bag!

10. Water bottle. While you're soaking up the sun, you'll want to stay hydrated with a cute water bottle that keeps your drink cold all day. This one is my go-to.

What to do on a Day Trip to Tampa

Thursday, February 28, 2019

A few weeks ago, Jesse and I ventured outside our little Orlando bubble over to our west coast neighbor - Tampa. I've only been a handful of times, mostly for concerts that don't stop in Orlando, but nonetheless I haven't been much. Since we've done just about all there is to do around here, we decided to mix it up for a little post-Valentine's Day date and made our way over to Tampa.

Our first stop was Oxford Exchange. This place has been on our list for a while, but like I mentioned, we don't venture outside of Orlando often. This made the hour drive worth it! Oxford Exchange is a really unique mix of things - part coffee shop, part book store, part brunch spot, event space, gift shop - and it is just as wonderful as everyone hyped it up to be.

We started with brunch and sat outside on the enclosed patio area. The roof is a giant skylight that lets in all the sunshine, and in the center, there's a beautiful fountain with seating attached. Talk about an Instagrammer's dream. I ordered a mimosa and egg sandwich, and it was one of the best brunches I've ever had. Not sure if it was the sun or the mimosa speaking, but I so enjoyed it.

After our visit to Oxford Exchange, we headed over to Hyde Park Village, an outdoor shopping center with the cutest stores, restaurants and picture spots. Oh, and Sprinkles. There's one of those, too. If there's a Cupcake ATM nearby, I will find it.

I loved the awesome murals around every corner. The place had so much character and all of my favorite spots. Before deciding on our next move, we stopped by Buddy Brew Coffee, and tbh, I wanted to move in. It was so aesthetically pleasing, and the cold brew was so yummy.

Caffeinated and ready for our next stop, we made our way to the Florida Aquarium. I'm a huge fan of aquariums actually, so much so, that when I was a kid I begged my parents to take me anytime we went somewhere that had one nearby. I hadn't been to the Florida Aquarium since my third grade field trip, so it was fun to visit again and feel a little nostalgia. I love that it overlooks the bay, too!

Overall, we had such a fun time in Tampa for the day. It's always fun exploring new places and finding the local spots. Where should we go next?

Himalayan Salt Therapy at Waldorf Astoria Spa

Saturday, February 16, 2019
I was recently invited to experience their new Himalayan Salt Therapy at the Waldorf Astoria Spa. I received a complementary Himalayan Salt Stone Massage, 30 minute session in the Salt Therapy Room, and breakfast. While this post is sponsored, opinions shared on my experience are my own.

My focus this year has been on self-care. Between work, creating content and my social calendar, there's not much "me time" in there to relax and destress. 2019 is already off to a crazy start, so when Waldorf Astoria Orlando invited me to come experience their newest addition to the spa, Himalayan Salt Therapy, I simply couldn't refuse.

Himalayan Salt Therapy, or halotherapy, boasts a rather unique experience at the spa. So unique, Waldorf Astoria Orlando is actually the first full-service spa to have its own Himalayan Salt Room on-site.

The combination of the Himalayan Salt Room with the Himalayan Salt Stone massage offers a relaxing, cleansing experience. Plus, the treatments can help with symptoms from both respiratory conditions and skin conditions.

As someone with chronic sinus issues, I felt so rejuvenated after my 60-minute Himalayan Salt Stone massage and 30-minute session in the Himalayan Salt Room. The salt cleanses to help clear out  mucus, get rid of bacteria and soothe lungs. After just 30 minutes in the salt room, I was breathing clearly for the rest of the day. My skin also felt so nice and smooth, since the stones in the massage act as an exfoliator.

Not to mention, the room was so aesthetically pleasing. It was like my Instagram feed materialized itself in the form of a room, honestly. Who knew Himalayan Salt could be so pretty??

I can't recommend the Himalayan Salt Therapy treatments at the Spa at Waldorf Astoria Orlando enough. Thank you to Waldorf Astoria Orlando for hosting me!

Valentine's Day Date at Universal Orlando Resort

Sunday, February 10, 2019
Universal Orlando Resort recently invited me to enjoy a special date at the parks for Valentine's Day. They kindly provided us with tickets and dinner during our visit. Thoughts and opinions shared on our experience below are my own.

Flowers, chocolate frogs, Voodoo Doughnuts... sounds like the perfect Valentine's Day date to me! Jesse and I visited Universal Orlando Resort for a fun Valentine's Day date that was anything but ordinary.

We had the best time hitting all our favorite attractions at the parks and snacking on sweets. At Universal Studios Florida, we strolled around and sipped our coffee before having a friendly competition on Men In Black Alien Attack (and I totally won, just for the record).

We then went to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Diagon Alley. There, we rode Harry Potter and the Escape From Gringotts, which is my favorite ride at Universal Orlando Resort. I have to ride it at least once every trip! Afterwards, we stopped by Sugarplum's Sweetshop to get Jesse's favorite candy.

We then headed over to Islands of Adventure for even more fun. Jesse rode Doctor Doom's Fearfall as a single rider, his favorite ride, but one I have to sit out (love Jesse, hate heights lol). We made a quick trip to Hogsmeade for a castle selfie and shopping at Honeydukes before dinner at CityWalk.

Our reservations were at VIVO Italian Kitchen, and since we've only been there once before for drinks and appetizers, we were really excited to sit down for a romantic and relaxing dinner. We recapped our day over bread and olive oil, calamari, and margherita pizza. Sooo delicious!

There's plenty more to do at CityWalk once the sun goes down and the parks close... unfortunately, the weather put a little damper on those plans, so we ended the night early, but will surely be back for another date night soon.

We had such an amazing time at Universal Orlando Resort celebrating Valentine's Day a little early. Thanks again to Universal Orlando Resort for hosting us!
